Monica Berghout

Monica Berghout
Monica began dancing at the age of three, attending local ballet classes near her home in Seattle, Washington. Growing up, she studied Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet at the Red Shoes Dancing Academy and Island Youth Ballet, as well as competitive Irish Dancing at the Scoil Rince Slieveloughane Irish Dance School.  At the age of fourteen Monica moved from Seattle to London, England with her family, continuing her dance studies at the Finchley Ballet School and the Kelley O’Boyle School of Irish Dance. Monica’s love for ballet inspired her to pursue dance as a career, and in 2011 she began a BA (Hons) degree in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance Headquarters in London. It was there that she was introduced to contemporary dance and choreography, as well as continuing to study the technique, performance, and teaching of ballet. At the RAD, Monica also had the privilege of studying the Russian Karsavina syllabus under the instruction of Jo O’Hara. Monica graduated in the summer of 2013 with First Class Honours and her RAD Registered Teacher Status, as well as her RAD Advanced 2 and the ARAD qualification. During the summers of 2012 and 2013, Monica took Levels 4 and 5 of Licentiate of the Royal Academy Dance. From 2013-2014, she danced with elevate dance company – a year-long apprenticeship course with Springs Dance Company, the foremost professional Christian Dance Company in Europe. As an apprentice with Springs, Monica was introduced to the professional Christian dance field, touring across the United Kingdom from April to July performing and leading workshops. It was during her time with Springs that Monica discovered the incredible effectiveness and power of dance as both a tool for evangelization and as worship, and her passion of dedicating her life to serving the Lord through this medium. Monica joined Dramatic Truth Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2014, and is now in her first year as a Company member. She is eager to worship and witness to the Lord and share His beauty, love, and light with others through dance.
