Growing up, she studied Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet at the Red Shoes Dancing Academy and Island Youth Ballet, as well as competitive Irish Dancing at the Scoil Rince Slieveloughane Irish Dance School. At the age of fourteen Monica moved from Seattle to London, England with her family, continuing her dance studies at the Finchley Ballet School and the Kelley O’Boyle School of Irish Dance. Monica’s love for ballet inspired her to pursue dance as a career, and in 2011 she began a BA (Hons) degree in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance Headquarters in London. It was there that she was introduced to contemporary dance and choreography, as well as continuing to study the technique, performance, and teaching of ballet. Monica graduated in the summer of 2013 with First Class Honours and her RAD Registered Teacher Status, as well as her RAD Advanced 2 and the ARAD qualification.
