A Right Spirit

Spring Worship Concert 2024

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Paquita

Pointe & Variations

This is a famous repertoire, similar to a musician's Beethoven or Mozart. It's from the Classical Era of ballet and choreographed by the great Marius Petipa. The story is a wedding scene of a woman, Paquita, with her bridesmaids and her husband, Andres. Not only is this piece famous and expected for dancers to be familiar with, it is also a great metaphor for the great wedding banquet to come, for we are the bride of Christ, redeemed and recognized for who we were born to be, brought into a new family, a new identity, a new inheritance.

Simple Gifts

The Lord has given us each special talents and gifts that make us unique but the simple gift of friendship and fellowship is one of the Lord's greatest gifts.

Blossoming

Ballet 1A Monday Evening

This year we talked about the fruits of the Spirit in class and just as fruits grow and produce beautiful things in our lives, flowers also grow and blossom creating beautiful things. We want to be flowers for Jesus.

A Right Spirit

Youth Company

As I was praying about the Spring Concert's theme "A Right Spirit" I realized that a lot of the time I can be in a place of worrying and anxiety instead of resting in the Lord.  I wanted to create a piece that starts by showing this place of fear and then what can happen as we come to the Lord and ask him to "Create in us a Right Spirit."  I also wanted to challenge myself to jump out of my "ballet box" and create a more abstract piece for the Youth Company for the Spring Concert.

Be Glad!

Beginning Irish

Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout His praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy!" Psalms 96:11-12

Hold On!

Combined Graham

We hold on to the promise the Lord has given us. He has promised us that He is Honorable, Just, Pure, lovely, Admiralable. Excellent, and Praiseworthy. We hold on to these promises and keep moving forward with no anxious heart.

Character

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.”  Matthew 25:1

Sound the Trumpet

Intermediate Irish

Irish shows different elements of dancing in a unique way. It emphasizes focus in lots of quick footwork, still upper bodies, making creative formations, and developing musicality.

A Royal Circle

Ballet 1A Wednesday Afternoon

And He created Rhythm

Advanced Irish

Rhythm: A strong regular repeated pattern of music or sound. Our God not only created music, but He created every sound we hear, including each unqiue rhythmical pattern.

Yahweh

Ballet 1B

I am Yahweh, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, or My praise to idols.” Isaiah 42:8  This year we have been talking about what it means to give glory to the Lord and the Lord alone.  As the words to this song say, "there will be no other god before you."

Sneaky in Sequins

Combined Tap

We don't have any fun around here. None.😉

Filled Up

Level 6 Jazz

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:5-6

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens." Psalm 148:13
