During the Fall Semester, students, ages 8-14, will discover how musical theatre is an exciting, contemporary art form that involves telling stories through a seamless integration of dialogue, song and dance, motivated by the demands
of plot and character. Students are welcome to try a musical theatre class for free and to invite other friends, ages 8-14, to join them, even if they are not a current DT dancer (this class will focus dialogue, song, & dance). Examining musical theatre concepts through the lens of biblical scripture and research, students will explore:

- how music is used to convey character, emotion, and inform acting choices
- how the voice works and basic vocal techniques
- the importance of “singing with your eyes” to communicate the character’s intent
- theatre terminology and how to implement it properly
- acting games and warm-up activities through daily participation
- how dance and movement contribute to storytelling
- the importance of “acting a song” as opposed to just performing a song
- how to become a strong ensemble member
- the importance of keeping a journal reflecting what they’ve learned in class
- and so much more!
